  • How do I prevent water damage?

As soon as you notice a water leak, immediately shut off the water and stop using the drains. Attempt to dry up the water with a shop vacuum or towels. In some cases, a water removal or extraction company may be needed to completely remove all the water. This is especially the case with hardwood floors. The sooner the water is extracted the higher the chance that no mold or long-term damage will occur. U-Gotta Plumber can provide any needed plumbing repair services to pipes or drains to ensure the leak does not reoccur.

  • What should I do about a burst pipe?

Shut off the main water supply valve to the home as soon as possible. If possible, make the needed repairs and restore water to ensure no leaks are present. U-Gotta Plumber has experts on staff to ensure that we can assist with all types of pipe leaks and any needed repairs with our 24/7 emergency plumbing service.

  • How do I unclog my tub?

The most common cause of clogs in tubs and shower drains is hair. Never introduce caustic drain chemicals as this rarely resolves the problem and can damage your drain pipes. Physically removing the hair with a drain snake is the longer-term solution. Placing a screen over the drain for preventative maintenance should help to prevent future clogs. As one of the top plumbing companies around, U-Gotta Plumber can always help with any drain cleaning needs.

  • What should I do if my toilet overflows?

Discontinue attempting to flush the toilet and turn off the water to the toilet by turning the valve located at the base of the toilet clockwise. As most plumbing companies will tell you, sometimes plunging the toilet will resolve the issue. If this does not solve the problem, call U-Gotta Plumber to help with any and all toilet and drain cleaning needs.

  • How can I fix my garbage disposal?

Garbage disposals can stop working for many reasons. These can range from a tripped electrical breaker to a large amount of food being introduced into the drain. If a cursory inspection does not reveal an obvious solution, contact U-Gotta Plumber for assistance as we are experts in garbage disposal and plumbing repair solutions.

  • How do I fix a leaky faucet?

There are many brands and styles of faucets. It is best to determine the manufacturer of your specific faucet and follow any guidance or instructions before attempting a plumbing repair. Often parts specific to that faucet are necessary to correct the leak. Single-handle faucets may require a cartridge to repair while two-handle faucets may require a stem, seat, or washer with springs to properly repair them.

Leaky faucets and other minor plumbing problems are so common that over 12 million Americans needed a plumber more than three times in 2022, according to Kitchen Infinity. U-Gotta Plumber has repaired thousands of faucet leaks, and we are here to help should you find that you need professional faucet repair assistance.

  • Why does my toilet make noises?

There are a few reasons that can cause a toilet to make noises. Some noises are caused by the continuous filling of the tank due to worn or defective parts. Partial clogs can cause gurgling sounds. High water pressure can result in whistling or humming noises. Partially open shutoff valves can also cause a toilet to make sounds. U-Gotta Plumber is the go-to expert for all of your toilet and plumbing repair needs. We can also make suggestions for upgrading your older toilets to newer more water-efficient models.

  • Why do we run out of hot water?

The answer can depend on the type of water heater you have. Typical tank-type water heaters are gas or electric. With either type, the manufacturer recommends an annual plumbing service to the water heater to prevent the buildup of sediment. When sediment builds up in a tank, it can reduce the capacity of the tank and the ability of the water heater to produce enough hot water. With electric tanks, you could also have a faulty thermostat or elements. The age of the heater, the water quality, and even the water pressure in the home can all affect the life expectancy and ability of your water heater to perform optimally. U-Gotta Plumber has replaced thousands of water heaters and we are experts at helping to properly diagnose the issue and offer solutions to restore the optimal performance of your hot water heater.

  • Should I turn off my water heater when I go on vacation?

Most water heaters have a vacation setting specifically for this purpose. Setting your water heater to vacation mode will reduce energy costs while you are away. It's also a good idea to shut off the incoming water valve to the heater. This can limit any leaks that might occur to only the water inside the tank. U-Gotta Plumber can assist should you need our expertise in water heater operation and maintenance. As a trusted plumbing service, we work with all brands of water heaters and even work on solar-powered and heat pump models.

  • Where is my main water shut off valve?

U-Gotta Plumber highly recommends that all homeowners be aware of where their main water shutoff valve is in case of emergency. The shutoff valve is often located near the hot water heater. It can also be found in a garage, crawl space, or basement. Occasionally, it may be located inside an access panel. As one of the most reliable plumbing companies in the area, U-Gotta Plumber is always happy to assist in locating and tagging your main water shutoff valve so you know exactly where it is located if you ever need it.
